What will I find?

All you need to know about searching and polishing Amber

A lot will depend on the size of your unsearched amber, the bigger the amber the greater the possibility of a bigger inclusion. The inclusions you can expect to find include spiders, various flys including midges etc, ants, termites, centipedes, fauna, hairs from animals that have brushed past the amber when it was sticky, seeds, fragments of wood and, if you are lucky, water which has become trapped.  Small insects, once in the resinous amber, found it hard to break free and were more easily trapped than larger insects which generally had the strength to escape.   Larger inclusions have been found such as lizards and scorpions but these were usually dead and had been dropped by birds or wounded first.
