Some people prefer not to put their polished specimens away for future viewing but decide to make their amber into jewellery. A polished piece of amber with insects or fauna can be turned into a beautiful, eye catching piece be it a pendant, bracelet or ring. If you are going to attempt to do this, before you begin, it's worth making a cardboard template or drawing of your finished piece. This will provide something for you to compare the amber against as you sand it into shape. You will also have to decide where you want the insect or fauna to feature in the finished item, i.e, if a necklace, most people are likely to choose the front and dead centre. However, depending on the piece of amber and where the insect or fauna is situated, this is not always possible to achieve. With a quick search, the jewellery clasps, chains, findings, etc. can easily be found and purchased online from suppliers, or from your local craft shop.
